This event was run for the 15th year in 2015. It was originally planned as a relay event for primary schools as an 8 hour event.

In 2002, it was extended to 9 hours.

Each relay team has 10 runners and the runners take it in turns to run 1 lap of the 1km circuit. The 1km circuit is laid out within the school grounds at Jan Viljoen High School in Randfontein, Gauteng.

In 2005, primary school Rapportryers mixed team averaged 4:23min/km to reach 123km in 9 hours!

The Number 1 goal is for each team to enjoy the afternoon and do their best.

In 2006, newcomers Risidale Primary took 1st place in the Boys section with 124km

In 2007, the Hartzberg Primary mixed team broke through the 130km barrier with 132km

The 2010 event took place on the weekend of 8th/9th October.
14 teams took part amongst the Boys, Girls and Mixed categories. The first 4 hours were run in extremely warm conditions nearing the 30deg mark.

The 2012 Primary Schools event was cut short early because of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and the danger of the lightning.
